The region north of Kathmandu is one of the nearest trekking destinations easily accessible by road. It offers a superb trekking adventure that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Some of the trails are challenging with long, steep climbs and descents, often through deep forests or across glacier mountain views and interesting villages with well-established lodges. Trekking to the remote holy lakes at Gosainkunda, climb the Yala peak (5500 m) and Naya Kanga (5846 m) are the major highlights of this region. The views of panoramic snowy peaks of Langtang Lirung, Pemthang Ri , Langshisha Ri , Dorje Lakpa, and Ganchempo from this region are captivating and heart-rending. The scenery here is spectacular and the treks are more adventurous as the area is visited by a few numbers of tourists. The region is proud to have Nepal's first Himalayan National Park popularly known by Langtang National Park.
